|LOCATION||Dartmoor National Park, Devon|
|TIME||10:00 to 16:00|
Dartmoor National Park is one of the most visited and iconic landscape locations in the UK and our Majestic Moorland workshop aims to take in a range of mixed locations for the very best picture opportunities.
The session will begin with a briefing from your Wild Arena guide and we will start at the first of 3 locations looking at ancient standing stones in the open moorland setting. This is a great opportunity to start to think about compositions and techniques such as filter use and tripods.
We will then move onto our second location in a very beautiful, wooded river valley. The scenery here is both verdant and intricate providing an excellent contrast with the more traditional view of the open moorland. The fast flowing river makes an excellent subject together with the colors and texture in the surrounding vegetation. We will cover techniques such as using slow shutter speeds for motion blur and ensure everyone looks at detail within the wider scene.
Finally we will move to our third location and visit one of the weathered rocky ‘Tors’ on the top of the moor. Again there will be time to consider the use of filters and thinking carefully about combining elements of the scene for the best compositional effect.
As with all of our landscape photography workshops, we will ensure everyone gets individual attention to help develop their personal photography by having small group sizes and plenty of time for constructive discussions. Other photography topics covered on these sessions might include: Compositional ideas (the rule of thirds, lead in lines, shapes in the frame, the focus of the image, perspective and simplicity), the use of tripods, practical application of filters for landscapes, using shutters speeds creatively for the inclusion of movement and creative use of apertures to control depth of field.
