|LOCATION||Park Farm, Knowsley Safari Park, Merseyside|
|TIME||09:00 to 15:00|
Our ‘Macro Master Class’ sessions are held at our head office and studio training center at Park Farm, Knowsley Safari Park. This great location has a fully equipped training room and macro studio and also the facility of our very own on-site collection of great animal subjects. By holding the sessions here we have considerably greater flexibility with equipment and can access a wider range of animals that would not be able to travel.
The subjects for the studio are drawn from our own, ‘little guys’ team. Species that may be included in a Macro Master Class include:
New Caledonian Crested Gecko
Madagascan Ground Gecko
Borneo Eared Frog
Golden Tree Frog
Tiger Leg Frog
Peacock Tree Frog
Golden Sedge Frog
Amazon Milk Frog
Argentinean Ornate Horned Frog
Frog Legged Beetle
Macleays Stick Insect
Praying Mantis (various species)
Because of the nature of macro studio work we limit the group size of these sessions to just 3 guests and this also enables us to offer every guest individual tuition and attention.
The session will begin with a welcome tea/coffee and the Wild Arena tutor will go through a presentation on advanced macro which includes: comparing 1:1 lenses with those that achieve higher reproduction ratios, depth of field techniques including focus stacking, understanding the exposure triangle to balance picture demands and the use of continuous illumination, dedicated and manual flash for external lighting. During this time there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and relate these learning points to your individual camera.
We will then move to the studio and have a 1.5 hour session where every guests will have their own chance to capture images of a range of challenging subjects. The tutor will be on hand throughout the session to help set cameras up with the various complex lighting solutions we have to offer. After s a sandwich lunch break where you can ask any other questions you might have, you will than have another 2 hours in the studio to look at different subjects.
The sessions are suited to customers using D-SLR cameras and macro lenses. The Master Class sessions are aimed at more experienced guests and we are likely to choose more unusual and challenging animals that will both test and reward our guests.
