Birds have always been, a favourite subject for wildlife photographers and falconry birds offer a fantastic chance to capture beautiful images of these iconic subjects. Wild Arena’s ‘Bird Photography Master Class’ aims to offer a range of professional grade opportunities to capture images of both static and flying birds. During this full day event we will carefully select subjects and locations with high quality results as our goal. We will take time to ensure each bird species is presented in as an authentic way as possible with due consideration being given to lighting, habitat and background.

Our venue for this workshop is the beautiful, varied parkland and woodland bordering Knowsley Safari Park. This private, un-spoilt area provides a perfect backdrop for such species as Golden Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Barn Owl, Little Owl, Kestrel, Great Grey Owl and Raven. We will work closely with our expert Falconer to ensure the best birds are selected on any given day and we will even consider factors such as the season and forecast weather conditions.

Each Master Class session is supported by a Wild Arena tutor, who will offer guidance and advice on getting the best results based on everyone’s individual needs and expectations.

During the briefing session the guide will talk the group through the best camera settings and techniques for capturing birds in flight and ways in which we can refine our results for static, perching birds for high quality and naturalistic images. Additional topics covered on this session will included; focus modes & area selection techniques, using high ISO to generate faster shutter speeds, managing depth of field through creative use of apertures, the function of long lens perspective and compositional choices for creativity.

Our aim with the Bird Photography Master Class is to photograph each subject in greater detail to ensure the best possible results. We will also check that every guest receives individual advice and support for their personal images.

There are many falconry bird photography sessions in the market but we genuinely believe ours is a ‘cut above’ the rest!
